There has never been a better time to celebrate the vibrant businesses that help the Moreton Bay Region thrive, Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism Chairman Shane Newcombe says.
Mr Newcombe says that with COVID-19 ruling out last year’s Business Excellence & Innovation Awards, it is more important than ever to acknowledge the businesses that contribute to the region’s economy and provided jobs for local people.
“Over the past 18 months Moreton Bay businesses continued to demonstrate that they are Moreton Bay Tough,” Mr Newcombe says.
“It’s now time for us to come together and celebrate their outstanding achievements and resilience at the 2021 Moreton Bay Region Business Excellence & Innovation Awards.
“Only by working together can we achieve a bigger, bolder, brighter future for Moreton Bay.”
With so many business success stories and economic triumphs, Mayor Peter Flannery expects a strong line-up of nominations.
“Despite the challenges over the past 18 months, Moreton Bay businesses have continued to demonstrate that we are #MoretonBayTough,” Mayor Flannery says.
“Our awards will celebrate those success stories within our 29,000 strong business community, with several nomination categories open … to key priority industries linked to our Regional Economic Development Strategy.

Solar Bollard Lighting founder Mike Arieni, whose company won back-to-back Exporting Excellence Awards in 2018 and 2019, as well as the Environment and Sustainability Excellence Award, the Employee of the Year Award and the Business of the Year Award in 2019, says putting successful businesses in the spotlight is important.
“There’s nothing quite as powerful as coming together as a business community to celebrate our successes in light of a very turbulent 18 months,” Mr Arieni says.
“That is what being part of the 2021 Moreton Bay Business Excellence and Innovation Awards is all about.”
Kallangur Dental Surgery owner Dr Sonia Sonia says winning Business Excellence and Innovation Awards has been a huge boost.
Kallangur Dental was crowned the region’s Business of the Year in 2017 and took out consecutive wins in the Customer Service Excellence Award category in 2017 and 2018.
“Winning the award was like winning an Oscar,” Dr Sonia says.
“It did the most amazing things for my business and for my team and their hard work.”
